Yup — especially at airports — crowded airports, jammed parking lots, long check-in and security lines and crowded dining facilities are at an all-time low when it comes to traveler satisfaction according to a recent Powers survey. Pack your patience — as well as your own food!!!
If your hotel room rates have really moved up up up … one national chain’s room rates actually went up almost 50% from pre-pandemic rates, and most offering less services. Shop around — and call the hotel direct … might be well worth your time & $$$!!
Motorized surfboards — only problem is they aren’t legal AND if you get caught be ready to pay a minimum $1500 fine. Surf’s Up In Venice! well, maybe not.
Some beaches in the US and Europe couldn’t staff enough lifeguards this past… so they started using DRONES! Cost is about $40,000 each and, along with high tech cameras and 2 folded life vests that auto inflate when dropped into the water — the drone can’t bring you into shore but can keep you afloat until help arrives.
Come down with COVID — you may be told to leave the ship at the next port — and be on your own to get medical care and a trip home!!!
MAYBE … with continued inflation and revenue falling way short of projections — look for most us airlines to look for more quick revenue sources —like once again charging for meal services and any carry-on luggage. Some carriers are talking about a $25 charge for ANY inflight meal …YIKEES!!!
AMERICAN is considering putting limits on what class of service it will “hold reservations” for 24 hours. They tested the idea over the fall with negative reception, but the airline has not stated future plans. Let’s hope a BIG public response can keep this simple but important travel benefit in the traveler’s favor.
Congress is considering it after hearing from thousands of travelers that “seats, especially in coach, are getting way toooo small.” Will be interesting to watch for an outcome — OR not!!!
The long time most popular dining stop in Disneyland’s New Orleans Square, The Blue Bayou, has fallen with the removal of 2 of their long-time guest-favorite entrees: Chicken Jambalaya and – hold on — Monte Christo sandwich! Yes it’s really true — gone— TELL US WHY??? Yo Ho Ho — NO NO NO!!
