Just so you can say you heard it here first — full grown whales can eat more than TEN TONS of food a day. That’s the equivalent of more than 80,000 (EIGHTY THOUSAND!) Big Macs a day — and just so you know, whales can weigh more than 100,000 pounds — that takes a “whale of an appetite” — too large for drive thru!!
How about a “SPEEDER” Jet Pack motorcycle! The turbine powered cycle can take off and land vertically, do about 60 mph on the ground, and airborne cruise at 250 mph. The new Speeder (from California based Jetpack Aviation) will set you back ONLY $380,000! The FAA says you will need a pilot’s license — wonder if the new air-cycle will have a side car for guests?
AVOID some of the airport hassle — pack and ship your bags ahead of your flight — costs have come down even as airline baggage fees have increased — and one company called “Rent The Runway” will rent out women’s designer garments and have them already placed in your room!
United has said it will start offering alcohol for sale again in coach — not sure this is yet a good move — especially with all the continued passenger inflight confusion just following mask mandates???
Yikes — XpresSpa is now offering “rapid covid tests” in numerous airports around the USA, but be aware of the “aggressive” $250 fee. These are the folks who originally leased in airport space for spas, hopefully the Express COVID test price will come down to something at least “reasonable.”
Yup — looks that way — the latest supply chain product disaster to hit the US is — NO maple syrup??? Fear not pancake lovers, the OPEC of maple syrup, Canada, plans to dip into its stockpile of 50 million pounds of maple syrup from its “strategic reserve” to feed the worldwide demand! (Quebec accounts for more than 70% of the world maple syrup supply). Canadian maple syrup sales have jumped more than 140% so far this year. O CANADA, Bless You!!!
As temperatures drop and virus infections increase — including the new omicron variant — several European destinations are adding new travel requirements. Austria is basically “locking down” (virus cases are UP over 140%) for both locals and travelers — including mandatory quarantine for ALL visitors — and maybe self-quarantine on return or entering the US (tougher rules may be required for non-vaccinated travelers). Know before you GO!!!
Yup — President Biden has extended travel mask requirements at least through mid-March 2022. This includes trains, planes, buses and AIRPORTS. Travel safe — MASK UP!!!
Looks like stricter testing requirements might be headed to travel — both for travelers entering the US and outbound US international travelers. Pre- and post-trip testing on both inbound and outbound travel, as well as post-international travel “self-quarantine” … everything is on the table currently with decisions forthcoming as more is learned on the omicron variant … stay flexible & vaccinated!!!!
