6000 TSA employees have contracted Covid-19 That sounds like a lot, and for those who developed serious cases I have plenty of sympathy. The agency has about 54,000 employees so it’s not that far off what you’d expect based on averages — info from the points guy.
The Wall Street Journal says “international travel is iffy at best this year” … with airlines, cruise ships and foreign governments being very cautious about out of country visitors. If you book at trip, be sure you know and understand cancelation requirements and fess — even with Covid vaccines, lots of “unknowns” about exposure downside — and travel health predications are just that, predications at this point.
Yup — US carriers are looking to add more service to Bozeman — with Alaska already adding flights from various California cities. Why you ask? Because Zoom-boomers are looking to flee California for more comfortable and less expensive living. Billings and Missoula are also enjoying increases — and “pop RV villages” are also hosting an influx of outsiders as they shop around for more permanent digs!!! Locals complain they’re getting squeezed out!!!

Maybe —the airline rumor mill says United is looking around to purchase another airlines — most likely someone smaller, like Sky West. Money would come from the Government Paycheck and Bailout funds the airlines have been accumulating of late — apparently only a small percent of the funds need to go to employee job and salary protection — the balance of $$$$’s can be used for “other” financial needs and actions!!!
American has joined with Hawaiian Air in offering travelers an easy “at home mail in COVIOD test kit” …self-administer no more than 5 days before your trip and results will be posted to your reservation information online!!! Expect to pay $129 per traveler!!!
Check out a group called “SLEEP STANDARD” … Fox Business News says Sleep Standard is doing a sleep study for a group of hotels and they’ll pay $2000 for folks who participate — and will sleep in a different hotel (from luxury to not so luxury) for 5 nights — moving each night to a new hotel. Not sure the purpose for the study but if you’re missing hotel sleeps, give it a try???
Disney, frustrated by not being able to operate either Disneyland or California Adventure for more than a year— has opened California Adventure for dining only. Visitors will need a dining reservation to enter and NO rides or attractions will operate. Hopefully a start for more Disney to open in the coming weeks with California’s latest news? The mega Downtown Disney dining and shopping destination is OPEN for dining only ……zippitty doo-daahhhhhhh
The TSA, which has a hard enough time finding guns and scissors, has a new distraction from its primary mission. They’re now the transportation mask police as a result of taking existing mask rules and making non-compliance a federal offense.
The Transportation Security Administration has announced its new fines for mask non-compliance: first offenses are $250, and fines range up to $1500 for repeated non-compliance. Mask enforcement, separate from new airline exemptions. (Thanks Points Guy for passing this on)
Airline pilots are making mistakes because they have become rusty because of the lack of flying time during the coronavirus pandemic.Dozens of pilots have told NASA’s Aviation Safety Reporting System that they have made errors since getting back into the cockpit.
