Yup — One of Americas “worst” airlines is now serving John Wayne Airport in Orange County — 3 times weekly with flights — when they operate — to Oakland — and maybe soon to add Las Vegas. Although fares low — everything is extra — from printing a boarding pass to seat assignments — the TC says “ keep your distance” and fly with a carrier more in tune with reasonable customer service!!!
DELTA is committing to keep middle seats empty on all flights — for now — including the upcoming holidays — and until the end of March. Tip of the TC “Good Guy” hat to Delta for stepping up and encouraging safe air travel for the next few months — how come the other carriers can’t “follow the leader?”
TC says “No” to American’s 737 seating plan and no to flying anyone’s 737 MAX for now … AND AMERICAN NO SEAT SPACING AND COMFORT — NO, NO TICKET FOR US! (Thanks Gary for keeping us all updated on some of the “spacing tricks” some airlines are using to shove more people on their planes!)
The Las Vegas visitors and convention group — with lots of spare time these days — is going full speed ahead UNDERGROUND with construction of a mile long tunnel that will connect most hotels on the strip with downtown. The Tesla-Musk project was originally tested near LAX and then Vegas — and now “green lighted” for a one mile run underground in Vegas — with capacity to move 10,000 passengers and hour. Vegas folks expect the underground service to start within a year!!!
The former Chairman of Thai Airways is just now receiving a two year sentence for activities dating to 2009: he abused his authority by not paying overweight bag fees on a trip home from Japan. The incident was investigated – and he paid back the fees, and lost his job – a decade ago.
According to a new study by Hilton, 95 percent of Americans are missing travel and already feel a “travel memory deficit” — with higher ticket prices and less service options — including massive service cancelations to almost all US and overseas cities not helping — WHEN will the bottom out and start moving upward????
MAYBE — the new travel health passport might be similar to the official US government passport, and once issued would require any air traveler to show a current COVID test “passed” stamp — with-in certain pre-approved time limits for both domestic or international travel. The TC predicts the “travel health passport” will become a standard for all travelers — worldwide — both in bound and out bound from anywhere to anywhere … makes good health safety sense don’t you think?
Looks that way — at least from Newark (EWR) — with 3 times a week service to Heathrow — pre-COVID test and landing COVID test required — quarantine rules — both domestic and international destinations change daily so check often — don’t worry about crowded planes – weekday traffic around 50 pax or less each way. A few other international routes opening slowly from various USA major city airports — no one yet in a hurry to travel international — think summer 2021???
Yup — Delta is the first US carrier to start serving Italy — in a deal with the Italian government and Alitalia, the country’s once again bankrupt carrier — and with a special pre-flight COVID testing program there will be NO mandatory quarantine required on arrival. Good for the Italians — and Delta — for “safely” getting travel AND ITALY moving again!!!
A man posted a video to TikTok where he cooks a steak in a Delta lavatory. He puts a Sterno can in the toilet, lights it, and places an aluminum grilling sheet over the seat. Then he puts the raw steak on the sheet and pours white wine over it to marinate (perhaps it’s an old steak he’s trying to hide the spoiling flavor on, a good piece of meat should never require this!). He plates it and returns to his seat. There’s no question he should be banned from the airline, and probably charged with a crime if this really happened as-shown, for lighting a fire in the lavatory.
