Long Beach Harbor Area Cleans Up Well — Well Almost

June 30, 2016: If you haven’t been to the “new Long Beach” shore area you really should plan a visit.  The area, anchored by the Long Beach Aquarium, is a great half day family visit destination. Do the Aquarium early as season pass holders invade by noon — then walk the Shoreline Village area — a number of activities (land and water) and restaurants await, including some “unique” services?

Long Beach Aquarium’s Big Time Greeter

June 29, 2016: The Long Beach Aquarium in California is worth a visit. Well, laid out, with both inside and outside sea life attractions, along with numerous staff along the way manning educational touch and feel exhibits. The shark tank was a little disappointing (a variety of smaller sharks) but the sting ray exhibits made up for it — along with the opportunity for an up close “touch and feel” experience. Go before noon when the season pass holders invade — adjacent covered parking is $8 — bring your own food and especially beverages to enjoy in the outside picnic areas.  Inside, a small bottle of water costs over $4 and the wait at the Starbucks sponsored coffee and pastry stop painfully — really painfully — slow.  The TC wants to know: How does a small bottle of water, needed on hot days, have to be so over priced?

Airbus Looks to Drones for Future Growth

June 28, 2016: Airbus, a European aircraft builder (#2 in the world to Boeing), is looking to get into the Drone building and sales business — to capitalize on fast growing market for both commercial and military use. The $4 billion market is expected to grow to over $93 billion in the next ten years — and this excludes the small drone hobby market. Solar powered drones, new to the market, can fly extremely low and stay in the air for 90 days. Airbus already has the “unequaled” reputation for building the most uncomfortable commercial aircraft in the world — hopefully their drone program won’t fly people?qB5FudgU_400x400quadcruiser.2016-03-15-19-11-56

Travel in Comfort and Style on the New Dreamliner

June 20, 2016: Individual “pod” 787 Dreamliner business class seating is like having a small suite — with no irritating neighbors nearby. Plenty of room to work, be entertained or gaze out the window as you travel over Greenland. One of the unique features of new Boeing jet is the windows — with individual adjustment for light or day time dark intensity.  Very civilized.
