Hertz says it’s going to convert 20% of its rental fleet to electric motor cars and has inked an order for 100,000 Teslas. Hertz is in the midst of exiting from bankruptcy (billion dollar BK) and seems to be planning to stay around … think “green” or electric anyway!!!

American Cancels over 2000 Flights…
Yup — October 31 (boo!) American canceled over 2,000 flights at their DFW hub in one day, blaming weather and limited staff availability. Created quite the airport and travel mess throughout the system. Travel experts say it’s “just the start” and predict November cancelations — for all airlines — will set a record — starting off that way!!!
Travel in November will be messy…
Yup — be prepared for lots of “bumps+confusion+changes+crowds” — if you plan to travel in November. Especially airline travel as most airlines admit they don’t have enough flight crews to meet current schedules — which also means airports will be understaffed and create confusion even before travelers get to their gates — add in bad weather and travel is even worse — bring a book and be patient!!!
OOPS -DIDN’T SEE THAT COMING
Delta makes Point RE:Passenger no Fly list?
Delta is asking all US carriers to agree — that if you are banned from one airline then you should not be allowed to fly on ANY airline. COVID face mask issues have been responsible for more than 4,000 ground and air incidents so far this year — many requiring police and flight crew intervention ……what do you think?
World’s first mermaid museum opens
Located in Berlin, MD (the self-billed coolest small town in America), although located 10 miles from any ocean, the museum includes mermaid art and a unique collection of “oddities” — like mermaid scales (really?), a mermaid-shaped Cheeto and the highlight “Fee jee Mermaid” — a half like skeleton + half fish taxidermy mermaid model by PT Barnum from the 1840’s — signs throughout warn of “some fish nudity” ……admission discounts available if you bring a fishtail or fish-tale!!!
Will Hilton Hotels be the first to charge extra for house-keeping?
Maybe — as hotels look for extra ways to supplement declining business travel — could be a “messy” way to turn off customers!!!
Are hotels looking for new ways to up-charge guests?
Maybe — looking for new sources of revenue in a “down” business travel market — hotels are looking at charging guest fees for services like late check out ($50), early check in ($25), gym and pool use ($25-$75 depending on day of the week — seems quite unfair and hopefully travelers refuse it or book elsewhere!!!
Will backpackers be banned from some countries?
Maybe — some foreign countries are “taking up the welcome mat” for anyone planning to backpack. Bali may be the first — they say “it’s being considered for COVID health reasons.”
US Pandemic travel loss is staggering…
Wow! US travel industry loss for 2020 was more than $500 BILLION. New York City says they lost over 89,000 travel industry jobs — and more than $60 BILLION in revenue ……
