Ripon Cathedral — One of England’s First Stone Churches

June 9, 2016: Not to be missed when visiting the very green York area of northeast Britain, the magnificent Church of England stone Cathedral in Ripon. The town of Ripon (really a village-like setting with small narrow streets, numerous shops, pubs and restaurants), is highlighted by the Cathedral, that can trace it’s origins back to the early 600s. The Cathedral also features one of the top choir music boarding schools in the country — with all ages of students enjoying the serene setting and natural surroundings to study music and sing. The Cathedral organ (you can see part of the pipes towards the front) pipes start in the basement crypt and rise nearly two stories upward. Even for the non believers, the visit and setting a must see.
